So on Sunday 26th April 2015 I ran the Virgin London Marathon. It was a day of mixed emotions, from euphoric highs to demonic lows and all the way back up to an exhausted, but euphoric, high. I swore I would NEVER EVER run a marathon again ...
And then I entered the Virgin London marathon 2016 ballot (surely a 'shoot me' moment!!!) and low and behold ...
I got a place again ...
A moment of HUGE mixed emotions - the remembrance of the lows, but also the huge sense of achievement, and a huge amount of money raised for Cancer Research UK (3,000+ to date).
So here are some of those moments from the day ...
Before the race, at Blackheath
Half way and feeling good :)
In the demonic depressed stage - I hated every minute from mile 15-21
Coming down the Embankment -
legs were working again
and it was almost over!!
On the Mall -
the end was in sight!
We did it!!
I ran it with my amazing friend Vic - god knows how she put up with my moodiness, silence and almost crying times, but she did, and only because she put up with did I finish.
So I am going to do it all again - without her. Now that scares me, but I have been there, know what it is like, and know what I need to to - so it's got to be easier, hasn't it!!!!
Still recovering from injury during the Great North Run means I have to start taking baby steps, but I am determined to do better than last year and enjoy it more.
